The Georgia Club Foundation, Inc. is a community foundation established in 2006. In the first year, the Foundation raised more than $33,700 to support local community efforts. Donation of $15,500 from Celebrity Golf Tournament & Auction Made to Food Bank
Background
The Second Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament held August 1, 2009 was a huge success, nearly tripling the income from the previous tournament. As a result, a check for $15,500 was presented to the main beneficiary, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. John Becker, the president of the Food Bank, accepted the check, much of which is expected to be directed to Barrow County school children in need.
"The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia is honored to carry on this most vital hunger outreach with the support of the Georgia Club Foundation," commented Becker. "The generosity, love and care for the community provided through this donation feeds hundreds of families each month throughout the year in Barrow county alone. In addition, this tournament and the hard work of the board of directors and members of the Georgia Club has allowed the Food2Kids program to more than double its outreach to children in Barrow county who need food for the weekends. The Celebrity Golf Tournament is a wonderful blessing to the entire Northeast Georgia region and The Food Bank is extremely grateful to steward these donations to feed struggling families who cannot afford to eat."
Fundraising Activities
